when women fall in love...

   Penelope, a mother to Telemachus and wife to Odysseus, is matured enough to know everything to be a mother and a wife. She knows how to feel hurt and left alone without his husband. Penelope was strong and brave enough to face the challenges and scurrilities by his suitors when Odysseus was not still around. In ten years of being lonely and unloved by a husband and of longing for Odysseus' presence, Penelope was hurt by her abusive suitors. It is natural to feel this way when your husband is not around for full twenty years.
   In contrast to Penelope, Helen remained childing despite the fact that she had known that she was a woman already. She was so naive at things unlike Penelope whose mind was open for any possibility and reality. However, both women were in love. Penelope to Odysseus and Helen to Paris, her one and true hero. In fact, Helen had already fallen in love with Paris when she saw his face in the water. When the two had met, their hearts beat as one but Helen was already engaged to Menelaus.Helen did not know the feeling of being hurt, so she did not care and left with Paris for Troy unlike Penelope who knew how to endure such things.
   Both women, however, were similar in some ways. Helen and Penelope were both in love and remained loyal to their feelings and both were left by their men. Odysseus sailed off to accomplish some mission but returned after a long period of time, Paris left Helen's side because of death. Even if both women lost temporarily or permanently their partners, they remained faithful. They both became strong and brave to face the challenges. Penelope, despite the scurrilities of her suitors, remained strong. Helen, too, despite Paris' death and Agamemnon's abuse to her womanhood, remained firm.

Love Conquers All

      We sometimes fall in love with the wrong person at the wrong time. Sometimes, we think that the one who currently occupies our heart is our partner for the lifetime. Sometimes, we get lucky in love; when we ride a jeepney or a tricycle, one look at our sideways, and there, you find love. However, we do not know where taht love could lead us. We cannot think if that love will bring us good or misfortune. 

      Like what happened with Paris and Helen. Helen left her supposed-to-be husband and eloped with Paris. In exchange for youthful love, Paris, as well as his love ones, will suffer. From rivalry to war, Trojans fought against the Spartans. Menelaus, on the other hand, gave everything just to win Helen again. The love of the man for Helen resulted in a complete destruction. So, we can say that Helen's love for Paris was not good and rightful. It was also a sin against God; she committed adultery. Helen, knowing that she was the wife of Menelaus, still chose to come with another man. But, if I were asked if I would come with Paris, I would. Why? Because, if I spend the the rest of my life with someone I do not love, I would just waste every second of it. The time that I can be with my love would be wasted.Whatever happens to my love and the ones loving me, I would accept. I would endure everything as long as I am with him.  

      Once we are conquered by love, we have nothing to do but to satisfy the overwhelming desire in our hearts and give the one we love the best things that we can offer, even if it is our lives.
